The claims Money
Do the UK Lighthouse charity accounts show Go Church money flowing to Ghana and Bishop Dag Heward-Mills?
No: the accounts page VRT put on screen shows grants to a Bible school and to evangelistic missions in 2024, both at £0 in the year VRT displayed, and no line VRT showed names Bishop Dag Heward-Mills as a recipient. Those accounts belong to one UK charity and say nothing about Belgian donations.
What the documentary said
Where does all that money go? In Belgium, GoChurch is not officially registered, so there are no public annual accounts. / So we don’t actually know how much money people are donating to that account.
In the United Kingdom, the church is registered as a charity. That is why the finances are public and there is oversight. The British annual accounts show cash flows to Ghana.
De Britse jaarrekeningen tonen geldstromen naar Ghana.

Go Church’s written answer

What the film left out
In English: a church in Belgium is not required to register if it operates as an informal group, and it is not required to file public accounts unless it is a registered legal entity. Go Church says it keeps proper books. It also told VRT that no percentage of its collections goes to Lighthouse in Ghana and that it reports no finances to Ghana. VRT did not broadcast either answer.
The page VRT filmed at 30:12 is the Statement of Financial Activities of one UK charity, The Lighthouse Chapel International (charity 1110619), for the year to 31 August 2025. Under charitable activities it lists Anagkazo Bible and Ministry Training Centre: £0 (2024: £176,392), and Volta and Northern Missions and Evangelistic Campaigns: £0 (2024: £100,000). The money VRT called “cash flows to Ghana” was grants to a Bible school and to evangelistic campaigns, and none was paid in the year on screen.
The same statement lists a grant of £20,891 to Revelation Church of Asia and a gift of £381 to the Pentecostal World Fellowship.
No amount, recipient or year was read out on air. VRT then asked a former bishop who is suing the church where Belgian money goes. UK accounts say nothing about Belgian donations.
The record: his own words, across the years

2019
Newark, New Jersey, USA, Camp meeting, I Come Seeking Fruits
At a session on raising money to build churches, he separates the church’s money from his own, and says he gives his own on top.
There are two jobs in building the church: what money you can raise and what money you give of your own proper good… I am raising money from people for the church; that’s not my money. But of my own proper good, I also have my own responsibility… I must give.

The scripture
Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
Paul wanted church money handled openly, in sight of everyone. A registered charity filing public accounts, with every grant listed by name, is that standard in practice.
The verdict
VRT filmed the accounts and left the figures unread. Read aloud, they show a Bible school and missions, and £0 to either in the year on screen.
